Experience at ASSIST

ASSIST is a Non-government Organisation which was born in 1985 on the premise that “Development in India can take place only in proportion to the development of Village-India”.

ASSIST came into being on the initiative of a group of individuals who were involved in the field of rural development since three decades and have been debating on the question of expressing the commitment for the poor, but “with a difference”. This quest culminated, at the end, in the birth of ASSIST. Among this group of individuals there were Mr. J.Ranga.Rao, the Operational Director and Mr. K.S.R. Murthy, the Executive Director who are still working hard towards development.

ASSIST has also been strongly involved in Tsunami programmes through a variety of projects, to help affected people living on the coastal part of its target operational areas. A great number of these projects are still in progress.

ASSIST has been spreading its action in four Districts: Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna and Ranga Reddy Districts of Andhra Pradesh, South India.
