ASSIST is non-profit organization supporting
disadvantaged communities through different programs in rural
Andhra Pradesh, India. Through twenty four years of experience
ASSIST has reached the ability to understand the
priorities in the needs of the population and to successfully
implement programs to satisfy such needs. ASSIST
has phased out from 130 in Andhra Pradesh and is currently
working in 347 villages on the following issues:

Strengthening of community based
organisations
- Child labour – Identifying
working children, rehabilitating and mainstreaming them to
regular education institutes
- Vocational training and education
– Providing training in employability skills to adolescents
- Women Empowerment -
Empowering women through training and financial aid for the
creation of small business
- Livelihood promotion –
Helping deprived communities providing business loans for
women and men through micro-finance activities, creating
micro entrepreneurships
- Water and sanitation –
Providing drinking water through bore wells and water
treatment plants, helping with water harvesting and
irrigation bores for agriculture and providing latrines
- Social Housing – Providing
secured shelters to poor and helping coastal communities to
rebuild homes after disasters
- Health – Organising health
check camps and educating on health and hygiene issues,
including HIV/AIDS prevention
- Sustainable Farming and land
development – Training marginal farmers in
sustainable agriculture and supporting reforestation
- Disaster relief – Providing
immediate attention and help to areas affected by natural
and other disasters
