     Child Labour

Since the inception of ASSIST child labour eradication has been one of the major objective within the organization. The main aims have been to rehabilitate working children, to prevent them from work and from school drop-out and to make People’s Organisations aware and responsible for the sustainability of this programme on the long-term. As regards child labour ASSIST has achieved great results:

  • 8,968 children admitted to government schools from Balwadis (Child Care Centres)

  • 465 Transitional Education Centres (TECs) and Day Schools (6-14 age group children) constructed

  • 16,229 children enrolled in TECs and Day Schools

  • 4,316 children enrolled in Residential Centres

  • 20,230 children enrolled in Government schools from Balwadis, TEC and Residential centres

  • 78 bonded labourers released from work
