     Social Housing

In India almost 72% of 1.10 billion populations live in rural areas. About 50% of these rural areas live in very poor socio-economic conditions. According to 2001 census housing shortage figures in rural India at 14.8 million. Housing is the prime basic need of people to lead a sustainable life. Secured Shelter creates hope in the minds of people to lead better future. It helps poor families, who have been living in great distress and despair, attaining pride and dignity

ASSIST initiative of rural housing programme since 1985 has helped 18,026 poor and homeless families to have their own secured shelter.

Even though government has been taking up housing programmes at large scale, the total cost amount provided by government is insufficient and leaves poor people with incomplete houses to live-in, even though they contribute with petty cash and labour. For this reason ASSIST has taken up an initiative to extend support with the coordination of external agencies in completing the unfinished houses
