ASSIST was born in 1985 on the premise that “Development in India, can take place only in proportion to the development of Village-India”. The father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, once said, “There is no freedom for India unless its villages are free”. Our work strongly reflects this ideology.
ASSIST’s vision is:
To see the most underprivileged members of society able to fight with strength, courage and confidence in response to their own political, economic and social needs. We believe that, when given a chance, rural communities can find the solutions that will bring positive change to their own lives, and to those of generations to come.
